How to double numbers

First to solve these questions you will need to know your times tables and that doubling is the same as multiplying by 2,.
To find  24 x 12 using doubling and the 6 times tables
  Start by multiplying
12 by 6 which is 72

  - Rules for Doubling numbers- To double a number is always the same as multiplying by 2  and tripling a number is always the same as multiplying by 3

You now need to use doubling to get to 24 x . The first doubling is the same as (6 x 12 ) x 2 which is the same as 12 x 12 = 144 then a second doubling gives you (12 x 12) x 2 which is the same as 24 x 12 = 288
