How to subtract numbers using partitioning

To subtract numbers using the partition method you simply subtract the units from each other then the tens and then the hundreds, finally add these three numbers together to find the answer .

123 - 33

hundreds    100 - 0 = 100

tens    20 - 30 =  - 10

units    3 - 3 = 0

answer 100 + (- 10) + 0 = 90

Practice answering some more questions using your calculator.
